In terms of the financial “rescue” package, Bloomberg’s latest estimate is that the cost has reached a staggering $7.7 trillion.

Peter Schiff of Euro Pacific Capital points out that “The Social Security Administration runs its ‘trust funds’ with precisely the same methods used by Madoff and Ponzi. As money is collected from current workers, the funds are then dispersed to those already receiving benefits. None of the funds collected are actually invested, so no investment returns are ever generated. Those currently paying into the system are expected to receive their returns based on the ‘contribution’ made by future workers.”

He adds, “The United States Government runs its own balance sheet based on the Ponzi principal as well. Our national debt always grows and never shrinks. As existing debt matures, proceeds are repaid by issuing new debt. Interest payments on existing debt are also made by selling new debt to investors. The whole scheme depends on an ever growing supply of new lenders, or the willingness of existing lenders, to continue to roll over maturing notes. Of course, as was the case with Madoff, if enough of our creditors want their money back, the music stops playing.”

A more recent estimate, provided in a Politico.com story by Jeanne Cummings, is $8.7 trillion. She reported, “According to Bianco Research President James Bianco, who crunched these numbers, that amounts to more government aid and assistance than nine other historic bailouts and big government outlays combined.”

More Foxes and a Bigger Hen House

Growing up in the country reminds me of an old saying- "Fox is Guarding the Hen House."

The article, How the Democrats Created the Financial Crisis: Kevin Hassett, a Bloomberg News columnist covers straight forward how the Fox was in charge of the hen house, but today the hen house is bigger and we have many more Foxes. I would offer that we have fewer traps as well.

If the Fox could not be caught earlier when the stakes were as high as they've proven to be, what makes you think that more Foxes, a bigger Hen House, and fewer traps are going to restrain this predator in the least?

What can the hens do? Should they run? Should they surrender for a certain fate? Should they set more traps? Maybe they should get a better trap.

Did the Fox finally set his own trap? There is always hope, but it isn't obvious to at least one rooster.

Congress Isn't Accountable, but They Are Responsible

Congress Tries to Fix What is Broke. Investors Business Daily describes what occurred in the Congressional Subprime Mess:

Regulation: As the financial crisis spreads, denials on Capitol Hill grow more shrill. Blame an aloof President Bush, greedy Wall Street, risky capitalism — anybody but those in Congress who wrote the banking rules.

If you are really interested in change, then Congressional Leadership must be changed. Pelosi, Reid, and many Liberal Congressional Members must be removed before you can expect improvement in the U.S. Government. Granted McCain and Obama can affect the rate of change to Socialism, but neither can stop it with the current House and Senate Members. The best you can hope for is that Palin can talk some sense into McCain.

Not all members are bad, but the good ones are usually portrayed as bad by the Liberal Media. Some of the good names to remember are Tom DeLay, Newt Gingrich, Jeff Sessions, John Cornyn, Tom Coburn, George Allen, Pete Sessions, Duncan Hunter, Tom Tancredo, and James Inhofe.

Of course good change isn't going to occur anytime soon with the Socialist Media providing cover and miss-information to the typical naive working voter.

It is up to you to determine the facts in spite of the Liberal Media. The facts are out there, but not in the standard sources.

Congress is the Problem, Not the Solution

C-Span.org is a tremendous resource. While C-Span covers the House and Senate live any time they are in session on DirectTV, or Dish Network, they also cover on radio, web, or on C-Span3 live hearings. All are important, because it exposes Congress and how they actually spend our money or waste their time at our expense.

Observing the partisanship and slant of some of these hearings often separates the real Blame America First Crowd from those that are working to protect America. Politics or Patriotism? Foresight or Hindsight. Responsible or Irresponsible?

Congress is Where Change Must Occur

With the approval rating of Congress lower than President Bush's Rating, Congress is Where (Effective) Change Must Occur in the next election, or the next, before Change You Can Believe In can take place, with either party in charge of the Whitehouse. If The Change you Believe in is Socialism, then no change is required.

This Congress is controlled by Anti-American Leaning and Blame America First Individuals that are driven more by recovering Power They Lost, Maintaining Their Power, and Increasing that Power with Blame Bush Tactics or Blame Anybody, than Politics that is Good for America.

Congress is the problem, is spite of the President. Investigate for yourself the Congressional Action on just the few items listed below:

1. Foreign Policy Differences End at the Waters Edge
2. Immigration/Amnesty Policy/English Official Language
3. Budget/Inflation
4. Deficit/Inflation
5. Funds for Military
6. Energy Policy/Gas Prices/Ethanol/Oil/Inflation
7. Judges
8. Welfare State/Welfare Spending
9. Wasteful Spending/Political Hearings/Partisan Tactics
10. Patriotism, or lack of it

Before you can solve a problem, you must be able to recognize the problem. We, the Citizen Voter, must take more responsibility to be educated, informed, and active.

It is obvious that this Democrat controlled Congress doesn't respect the Will of the Majority of the People by the policies they market, but favor the Polices that keep, restore, and enhance it's Power. Congress is no longer controlled by Statesmanship Principals that many of us expect and respect (Maybe I'm showing my age).
