I have one message to the rest of the Republican delegation who
betrayed the overwhelming opinion of their base: March 6, 2012.
That's the date of the next Republican primary and the day you will
be held accountable for what happens in this year's session. It
doesn't matter how you vote; if bills die in committee it is your
fault because you put a liberal in charge of picking the committee
chairs.

I want to end on a note of encouragement to my readers. I do not
believe this fight was for nothing. In order to bolster his
re-election, Joe Straus likely had to make all sorts of promises to
pass conservative legislation. Those who voted for him know you
are angry, and since they are starting off the session "in the
hole" so to speak with their constituents, they may be more eager
to over-deliver on legislation.

Even liberal Burt Solomons, who almost lost his seat in the last
primary to an opponent I supported with a few thousand dollars, has
made noises about supporting mandatory E-Verify in the state. God
bless Burt if he delivers on that. Similarly, immigration
flip-flopper Rick Perry gave emergency status to an
anti-sanctuary-city bill in the House. It is only because of your
efforts and pressure that these politicians are doing the right
thing.

Politics is a complicated game. I think it's possible we're better
off in a scenario where Straus' committee chairs feel that they
have something to prove to the base to avoid a host of primary
challenges next year. After all, in the 2007 session it was a
Craddick appointee, conservative pro-life Christian David Swinford,
who killed all of the immigration bills at the behest of the Cheap
Labor Lobby. Someone like Swinford is a much tougher nut to crack
in a primary than a liberal Republican.

So to conclude: your efforts were not wasted. Let's continue to
put pressure on our representatives to support our issues in this
session, and if they do not, we can all look forward to March 6,
2012.

Kamala Harris, California's next attorney general, ran a program that trained illegal alien felons for jobs, kept them out of jail and even helped to clear their criminal records.

"I am radical in my belief in what we can do to improve the [criminal justice] system," Harris told the Los Angeles Times earlier this month, without elaborating much on those sentiments.

But perhaps a more detailed and accurate description of her beliefs can be found in her track record as well as in lectures she delivered that did not receive news media attention.

WND has learned Harris was a lecturer at a 2004 symposium at the law school of the University of California at Berkeley, where she spoke alongside notorious radicals Tom Hayden and Van Jones. Harris at the time was a prosecutor.

Hayden was the principal organizer of the 1960's antiwar movement Students for a Democratic Society, from which the Weatherman terrorist organization splintered. He is known for his antiwar beliefs and has blamed U.S. policies for the 9/11 attacks.

Jones was President Obama's "green" jobs czar until he resigned last September after it was exposed he founded a communist revolutionary organization and called for "resistance" against the U.S. government. Jones described in previous interviews how his environmental activism was a front to push through socialist policies.

In her speech, Harris implied the role of a criminal prosecutor should be to fight for the cause of "justice" for the "poor, the disenfranchised, the people of color, immigrants, children, seniors."

At the 2004 Berkeley speech, Harris stated, "Law enforcement has not, at least always been, in the history of our communities, our friends. It is important for those of us who have a level of sensitivity to the poor, the disenfranchised, the people of color, immigrants, children, seniors, people who have been victimized – it is important for us to also be at the table when decisions are being made affecting those populations instead of just on the outside of the door."

Continued Harris: "As defense attorneys and public defenders always, fighting to get the good offer, fighting to say the charge should be dismissed, fighting to say the charges never should have been filed.

"Instead, why not approach it from the inside as well, looking at the system that ultimately, if done well, was designed to protect all of the people and be there where we can use our perspective and combine it with the immense power that a prosecutor has to do those things in the name of justice?"

She argued for the need to create a campaign around reducing "not the crime but the fear of crime."

At the symposium, Jones took the opportunity to slam "Mr. Professional Incarcerator, Mr. Right Wing Cheerleader for your professional incarcerating friends."

Why I Oppose the Tax Deal

First, I do not want to see anyone's taxes go up and I have been fighting for years to permanently extend all the tax rates. I disagree with the President that we cannot afford to extend these rates for everyone. It's the people's money and we should not raise taxes on hardworking American families.

But this bill does much more than simply extend tax rates.

For starters, it includes approximately $200 billion in new deficit spending and stimulus gimmicks. That's a lot of money that will have to be borrowed from China and repaid by our children and grandchildren. If we're going to increase spending on new programs, we must reduce other spending to pay for it.

The bill also only extends rates for two years. We don't have a temporary economy so we shouldn't have temporary tax rates. Individuals and businesses make decisions looking at the long-term and we're not going to create jobs without giving people certainty as to what their taxes will be in future.

The bill also fails to extend all of the tax rates. It actually increases the death tax from its current rate of zero percent all the way up to 35 percent. One economic study shows that this tax increase alone will kill over 800,000 jobs over the next ten years.

Finally, the bill now includes dozens of earmarks for special interests, including ethanol subsidies, tax breaks for film and television producers, give aways for Puerto Rican rum manufacturers, favors for auto racing track owners, and a hand out for businesses in American Samoa.

When Senator Jim DeMint speaks, we all should listen and learn.
