Have the youth given up on Obama? – Global Public Square - CNN.com Blogs

Have the youth given up on Obama? – Global Public Square - CNN.com Blogs

The sobering reality: just 55.3 percent of Americans between 16 and 29 have jobs. And earlier this year, Americans’ student loan debt surpassed credit card debt for the first time ever.

Rather than develop a lasting initiative to help young unemployed Americans, the President launched “Greater Together” – a campaign tool that offers community forums rather than jobs. Rather than provide a bailout to those crushed by the burden of educational loans, his student debt relief program was pathetic – only reducing interest rates by a measly 0.5 percent.

No wonder less than half of Americans 18-29 approve of Obama.

It’s no surprise the President is ignoring millenials. They’re too poor to donate to his campaign this election cycle.
What more can you say about Obama Times?

Election Law Center: If Texas wants Voter ID for primary, go to court now

Election Law Center: If Texas wants Voter ID for primary, go to court now
By Christian Adams at December 26, 2011
It seems nearly everyone in Texas realizes that if Texas continues to allow the Justice Department to review Voter ID, and then ultimately object to it, Voter ID will not be in place for Texas primaries. Time to go to court. Every day Texas doesn't withdraw the objection and go to court means one more day before it is approved by a federal court.
Time to go to Court.

Supreme Court and Justice Department on Collision Course Over Texas Redistricting and Minorities' Voting Rights | Civil Liberties | AlterNet

Supreme Court and Justice Department on Collision Course Over Texas Redistricting and Minorities' Voting Rights | Civil Liberties | AlterNet
The Supreme Court agreed to rule on the constitutionality of several Texas congressional redistricting maps this Friday, one favoring Republicans and another Democrats. It set a court date for Jan. 9, 2012. Meanwhile, the Justice Department’s case against the maps drawn by Texas Republicans is headed toward a trial in another D.C. federal courtroom in January.
What Supreme Court Ruling?

With this Corrupt Regime, it ain't ever over until Corruption wins.

It features testimony at a House hearing on threats to our military by Paul Stockton, President Obama’s Assistant Defense Secretary for Homeland Defense & America’s Security Affairs. He is unable to bring himself to utter the word “Islamist,” much less admit what ought to be the undeniable fact that Muslim terrorists are motivated by Islamist ideology.

It reflects the Obama philosophy that we cannot even hint that an interpretation of Islam — drawn literally from Islamic scriptures — is the force motivating our enemies. Even though this is unquestionably true, to say so, to acknowledge it in any way, would mean, according to administration thinking, that we are at war with Islam itself — with all 1.4 billion Muslims, including the hundreds of millions who do not subscribe to this interpretation. Unwilling to entertain the possibility that the enemy has a coherent, knowable doctrine — which is a powerful catalyst precisely because it draws credibly (not inarguably but credibly) on scripture — we have forfeited the natural right to defend ourselves and the troops who make it possible for us to live freely.
Paul Stockton and Obama may not be Muslim, but they are covering for them at our peril.

Secretary of State of Texas:  Esperanza "Hope" Andrade

Obama does not meet the requirements to be on the ballot, and he has submitted false documents in support of his eligibility.

Specifically, it looks like his Social Security Number is incorrect and he is not a Natural Born Citizen.

Please provide me information regarding what the State of Texas is doing to verify this requirement and provide me necessary information to challenge these requirements in Texas.

Who Cares Who Wins The Gop Primary? - Conservative Crusader

Who Cares Who Wins The Gop Primary? - Conservative Crusader

by: jb williams | published: 12 04, 2011

The good thing about hitting rock bottom is that there is nowhere to go but up from here. We certainly hit rock bottom with the Obama administration, now officially replacing the Carter administration as the worst in U.S. history.

So let me just say what everyone else is thinking, but won’t say… Who cares who wins the Republican primary for the 2012 election cycle? Any of the Republican candidates will be better than Obama and yet, none of them will be the solution to our problems. So, who cares who wins the primary? Whoever it is, every American should vote for them next November, no matter who wins the primary....

Now that the three branches of the Federal Government functions as one international anti-American unit, the nation can only be saved at the state level. That’s where our focus must be, while we wait to see which anti-Obama candidate we are all going to vote for next November.

Rule #1 – You can’t get good government from a sick society. These people vote!

Rule #2 – Your Federal Government sold you out long ago.

Rule #3 – Your government of, by and for the people was replaced by a government of, by and for political elitists.

Rule #4 – Nobody in Washington D.C. is on your side.

Rule #5 – It is 300 million citizens against about 1000 ruling class elitists. Who should be scared?

Rule #6 – One person can do nothing, but millions of people working together can do anything they want.

Rule #7 – Freedom and Liberty are the only Constitutional entitlements that matter at the end of the day.

Rule #8Well Organized defeats disorganized every time.

Rule #9 – Opinions are not as valuable as facts.

Rule #10 – You are either the solution, or the problem – an active or passive participant. There are no sidelines…

Rule #11 – You must be more committed than your enemies to win.

Rule #12 – You must be smarter than your enemies to win.

Rule #13 – Save most states and you have saved the nation.

If we want our country back, we will have to take it back, one community, one county and one state at a time. To save this nation, we must begin by saving our local, county and state governments. We must place them in a position of financial independence from the bankrupt Federal Government.

To do that, we must place our states in the position to reject federal mandates that are bankrupting our states and causing federally dependent state governments to act with loyalty to the federal feeding trough instead of the people of the state.

West's Weekly Wrap-Up

West's Weekly Wrap-Up
Here are the facts for America since January 2009:

- More than 2 Million Americans are unemployed, close to 26 Million are underemployed (National unemployment at or above 9% for 28 straight months, double that in the Black community.)

- Average gas prices have gone from $1.83 to $3.45.

- Federal debt has gone from $10.6 Trillion to over $15 Trillion, with three straight years of trillion-dollar-plus deficits (debt per person has gone from $34,000 to over $48,000)

- Food stamp recipients up by 41%, with 16% more Americans in poverty at 6.4 Million, the Misery Index is up 65%, and nearly 48.5% of Americans are on government aid.

- Home values are down 11%, and health insurance premiums are up 23% from $3,354 to over $4,000.

- United States global competitiveness is down from 1st to 5th in the world.

Yet with these abysmal statistics, all we hear from the big megaphone of the White House is we need to tax people, particularly certain people, more. We hear about extending payroll tax holidays which is nothing but a band-aid approach only providing a very short-term impetus. What no one is telling the American people, especially Seniors, is that the constant use of payroll tax breaks continues to erode the funding of Social Security – which is already running a deficit. When combined with the unemployment situation, we are speeding up the demise of Social Security in America.

If the solution is to extend unemployment benefits, then we are creating a situation where we must continue to borrow more money to fund initiatives, which will promote and exacerbate the destructive economic indicators.

We currently borrow 42 cents on every dollar… a dollar which soon, thanks to the insidious monetary policies emanating from the Federal Reserve, may not be the default currency of the world.

This is not leadership. It is policy by election cycle sound bite where the purpose is just to get reelected. Politicians are now preying on the uninformed electorate and are not developing visionary pro-growth economic policies for America. The obvious goal is to create more victims in America, an America of dependency - not individual independence.
West get's to the point again.

Archived Blog: 15 Signs of Our Obama Times

Archived Blog: 15 Signs of Our Obama Times
To meet what they thought was a clear and present danger of having one of the most powerful and dangerous Mexican drug cartels conducting commando campaign operations on US soil, the Obama Administration instead opted to try their customary "hope and change" approach.

So they called in the Bureau of Land Management of the US Department of the Interior.

The Bureau produced 15 signs and erected them along a 60-mile stretch of Interstate 8 in the Vekol Valley area.

The billboard-size signs informed travelers that they were entering an "active drug-and human-smuggling area."

The signs alerted drivers and passengers that they might encounter "armed criminals" and "smuggling vehicles traveling at high rates of speed."

Really, that's the action the Obama Administration took!
Again, which side are they on? They can't be that stupid.

West's Weekly Wrap-Up

West's Weekly Wrap-Up
There is a quote I would like to share with all of you from Roger Sherman, one of the original signers of the Declaration of the Independence. Sherman said, “Sad will be the day when the American people forget their traditions and their history, and no longer remember that the country they love, the institutions they cherish, and the freedom they hope to preserve, were born from the throes of armed resistance to tyranny, and nursed in the rugged arms of fearless men.”

West's Weekly Wrap-Up

West's Weekly Wrap-Up
As I exited the hearing, one woman decided to follow me and asked me why I don't just "end the wars?” I asked her if she knew "what the only two ways are that end a war?" She replied, "just stop funding them." My response to her was that "you end a war by either winning or losing, those are the only two ways." I expressed to her that I am not about losing....

We must develop a national security strategy that is not budget based but rather requirement based. That means we must conduct a threat analysis across the geographic areas of responsibility and then match a capacity and capability to thwart those threats. We must end the failed process of telling the military... this is what you get, go defend us.

I believe there are inefficiencies we can eradicate in the Department of Defense, mainly we should move from a Cold War era “forward-deployed” force posture to a “power projection” posture. It also means that we must stop the practice of nation-building/occupation style warfare and move towards strike operations…something which we shall discuss later.

Let me share some budgetary facts:
- $1.36 trillion used to prop up Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac could have funded the entire base budget of the Department of Defense for three years.
- $79.69 billion used to bailout auto makers could have funded Navy shipbuilding for over five years. Since 1990 we have gone from 546 naval vessels to 285 currently.
- $535 million taxpayer dollars dumped on Solyndra, which is not bankrupt, could have completed this year’s backlog of ship maintenance and had nearly $200 million left over.
- $3 billion spent for “Cash for Clunkers,” could have purchased some 125 transport vehicles for ship to shore operations.
- China now has over 60 attack submarines, while we are falling behind our minimum requirement of 48. The taxpayer funds spent to bailout AIG could have purchased 44 attack subs.
- The taxpayer funds we pay in interest to China on our debt could buy almost three F-22 fighter jets a week.

These are just a few examples proving that our federal government just does not understand its most important role is the security and safety of this country. Instead, leaders fall prey to “crony capitalism” and as a result place our nation in serious peril. We cannot solve our national debt/deficit problem on the backs of our military, or our Veterans.
...

This brings me to a report that was released this week.
Back in August, America lost 33 of its Elite Warriors, US Navy SEALS, and other Special Operations support forces. As well, we lost Afghan partners in the mission that I will hence refer to as Extortion 17. The US Army did an impeccable job in investigating this mission and I want to share with you the investigating Officer’s quote from his report:

“After conducting my investigation, I have determined that this mission, and the tactics and resources employed in its execution, were consistent with previous US Special Operations missions and the strike forces selected to execute the mission were appropriate. I also determined that the CH-47D was shot down with a rocket-propelled grenade (RPG) fired by a Taliban fighter as the helicopter neared its landing zone.”

The investigation was conducted by a US Army Brigadier General with extensive helicopter flight experience in combat. He is now serving as an Assistant Division Commander in the US Army.
The shot which took down the aircraft hit one of the blades on the aft rotor assembly , resulting in the aft rotor separating from the aircraft, and sending the aircraft into a fatal spin. The Taliban combatant which fired the shot was summarily killed in a subsequent operation.

Last week, I had the distinct honor of speaking to one of the family members, Mr. Billy Vaughn, who lost his son during the operation. Mr. Vaughn wanted to share his insights and perspectives of which he and I concur: The greater issue of what happened that evening comes back to two points of order; Rules of Engagement and airframe availability for strike operations.

First of all, let me discuss the Rules of Engagement issue. The US Navy SEALS were launched as a reaction force due to the identification of 9-10 enemy fighters near the initial Ranger operation. Permission was not granted to the over-watch AH-64D (Apache Attk Helos) to engage…therefore the decision was made to launch the Immediate Reaction Force (IRF). These same AH-64s had already engaged an enemy ground force seen moving away from the Ranger target mission area, killing six.

My concern is that we have implemented severely restrictive Rules of Engagement on our forces operating in hostile territory. If we always wait for hostile intent to be shown, we lose our advantage. I believe it is truly time for the House Armed Services Committee to hold hearings about Rules of Engagement and ascertain if it is allowing our forces to gain and maintain the tactical advantage or are we ceding the initiative to the enemy.

Secondly, on the evening of this mission there were countless other “strike operation” type missions occurring which require rotary wing lift capability. I believe it is time we reexamine the amount of lift capability that is required for our Special Operators as well as our conventional light infantry forces… Airborne, Air Assault or Marine. If we need to increase the fleet of MH-47s, as well as CH-47s, that should be a priority. The House Armed Services Committee must hold hearings in our Readiness Subcommittee to look at this issue. We also need to task out to our defense industry the mission to develop better early warning detection technology for our rotary wing fleet.

There will be many more “Tangi Valley” operations as we fight this enemy which seeks to hide in and amongst civilian populations. We need to ensure that our Warriors have the tools necessary to Find, Fix, Engage, Destroy, and Pursue this enemy.

I want every Member of the Joint Committee on Deficit Reduction to know one thing, our Warriors are fighting under tough conditions, in a constrained environment, and a time with reduced resources. There should be no more cuts to our Defense budget, unless any of you wish to look Mr. Vaughn and the many other families in the face and explain how you would jeopardize their loved ones lives.

The Members of the Joint Committee have a job to find the additional $1.2 trillion to $1.5 trillion cuts in our bloated government spending disease.

In conclusion, talk is cheap, and all Iran hears is talking. Eventually we will have to take action, which is all that country will comprehend. Instead of sending 100 Special Operators into some “nebulous” mission in Africa, we need to stay focused and on task.

It is unbelievable to me that the Obama Administration would venture off into combat operations, Libya as an example, without any consult with the United States Congress, as we depart Capitol Hill for a District Work Period.

Lastly, it has come to my attention that the United States Department of State issued a condolence call to the family of declared Islamic terrorist and traitor, Samir Khan. The State Department should have instead called the family of the young American who fired that Drone’s hellfire missile and congratulated them for raising an American Warrior!

Steadfast and Loyal,

Representative West says it about as clear as it can be said.

Harry Reid Nukes the Senate

Harry Reid Nukes the Senate
Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid (D-NV) fundamentally weakened the United States Senate yesterday in a desperate attempt to block a vote on the President's stimulus bill.

Using a simple majority vote, Reid used the "Nuclear Option" to change the rules of the Senate so senators cannot offer amendments. In the future, senators will only be able to modify legislation if Harry Reid agrees to it.

Harry Reid changed the rules of the Senate because Republicans planned to force a vote on President Obama's stimulus plan. The plan is so unpopular that it was going to be defeated by Republicans and Democrats when it came up for a vote. This would have embarrassed the president so Reid and the Democrats just changed the longstanding rules of the Senate to block it. You can learn more at RedState.com.

The Senate is supposed to be the "World's Greatest Deliberative Body". That means debating, amending, and voting on legislation -- all things Harry Reid has sought to avoid during his tenure as Senate Majority Leader.

Folks, we're teetering on tyranny. We must elect a conservative majority in 2012 to stop this madness.

This latest attempt to ignore the rules and force bad legislation on the American people is alarming, but it's not that surprising. Democrats have been ignoring the U.S. Constitution and blowing through its stop signs for years.

Republicans can protect their rights in the Senate but it requires 41 Republican votes to keep the Democrats from cutting off debate. Unfortunately, too many Republicans lack the courage to stand together for the principles of freedom.

The only way to take our country back is to elect true conservatives to the U.S. Senate. We need principled leaders who care more about defending our freedoms than their own political careers.

I want to thank each of you for being members of the Senate Conservatives Fund and for supporting our endorsed candidates. Because of your support, SCF has invested over $500,000 in two outstanding candidates -- Josh Mandel in Ohio and Ted Cruz in Texas.
If you want a name you can trust, it is Senator Jim DeMint.

West's Weekly Wrap-Up

West's Weekly Wrap-Up
Now, my liberal friends are going to say it is all George W. Bush’s fault…however, in eight years, President Bush’s biggest annual deficit was $500 billion in 2008.

In three years under President Barack Obama, we have had deficits of $1.42 trillion, $1.29 trillion, and an estimated $1.5 trillion for 2011- which ended just a couple days ago.

Yes, big government-spending Republicans started us down this road as we offered tax cuts, but grew the federal government. But any reasonable person must confront the truth that a bad situation has been exacerbated to a level of epic proportions, and that makes me sick and should make most Americans sick as well.

Americans are not soft and we are not a “nation of cowards.” Americans are a proud, hard-working, and resilient people who, through our entrepreneurial spirit and determination, have overcome countless obstacles. We are a nation of victors, not victims, and when we have leadership in America that seeks to empower us through encouragement, not enslave us through regulatory obedience, our greatest days lie ahead, not behind.

Next, I want to bid farewell to two traitors who got their proper punishment, Mr. al-Awlaki and Mr. Samir Khan. There are those, to include a couple of GOP Presidential candidates, who believe these dangerous men should have been brought back to the United States for due process. They did get due process- by way of an American Hellfire missile.

Let me be straightforward, any American who decides to become a non-state, non-uniform belligerent on this 21st Century Battlefield and incite insurrection and death upon Americans from a foreign land, deserves a one way ticket to Hell.

We must send a message to radical Islamic terrorists that an attempt to foment homegrown Jihad in America shall not be tolerated. If we need to change laws, then we in the United States Congress should go about doing so.
It must be disgusting for Congressman West to see so many Liberal "Friends" in our government.

I know it is for me.

Ron Paul’s Revisionist History | FrontPage Magazine

Ron Paul’s Revisionist History | FrontPage Magazine
History is full of lessons, of course. One lesson, as Paul suggests, is that foreign intervention is fraught with risks and can have unintended consequences for the intervening country. But another lesson of history is that there are unintended consequences and risks to isolation.
Foreign Policy is what disqualifies Ron Paul to lead America.

You might be able to get away with it for 1 term, but not after a similar Obama policy leading into that term.

McNamara's Band: Perry gets a Pass on Policy

McNamara's Band: Perry gets a Pass on Policy
Governor Rick Perry appeals to voters, especially those voters who don't care to delve too deeply into policy details. He has an intangible appeal that most candidates lack. We've watched the Perry phenomenon in Texas for over a decade. Should Perry become the GOP nominee, he will have my full support. And it appears that, despite his policy lapses, Perry may be the nominee. This election is solely about electability. And because of that, Perry is once again getting a pass on policy. And hey, if that is what it takes to beat Obama, then spare me the details.
This article pretty much sums it up on Perry.

Steve Forbes to Newsmax: Obama, Bernanke Must Go

Steve Forbes to Newsmax: Obama, Bernanke Must Go
“And I think the evidence is very clear that the president’s policies have made the situation worse, not better. The blowout in spending — where does the money come from? It comes from taxpayers one way or another. Obamacare — he passed that. Dodd-Frank — he pushed that. The weakening of the dollar — it started under the previous administration, but he’s made it much worse.

“So whether it’s the dollar, spending, refusing to do serious things in reforming the tax code or entitlements, that ball is very much in his court.”
Obama is poised to release a jobs plan that is expected to include proposals for extending the payroll tax cut and jobless benefits, spending money for new construction projects, and offering incentives to hire new workers.

Forbes offers his take on the plan: “What you see here is the definition of insanity — something does not work, you keep trying it and hoping that somehow it will work. Doing more government spending, doing more stimulus under another name, is not going to help getting this economy back on track again because again the government is in the driver’s seat.

“Extending unemployment benefits does not stimulate the economy. A payroll tax cut, because it’s temporary, does not encourage real spending or investment and the creation of new resources. Bottom line: more of the same. He doesn’t get it, which is why he’ll be a one-term president.”

Asked how Obama can jumpstart the economy, Forbes responds: “The president has to be serious about negotiating. He says he wants to deal, but it’s always on his terms.

“In terms of what he can do right away to help the economy, he could stop trashing the U.S. dollar and make the dollar as good as gold. That would go a long way toward attracting foreign capital, which is now leaving this country. He can stop the binge spending. There are a lot of things he can do but I don’t think he’s going to do them.”

Perry Mafia Punked, "Beclowned" Indeed - Atlas Shrugs

Perry Mafia Punked, "Beclowned" Indeed - Atlas Shrugs

This supposedly tough part of the Perry/Aga Khan curriculum, which you can find in full at this cached link here, is actually not at all the Islamorealistic presentation that Ace and Stein claim it to be. It does contain the material that they quote, but note that in all that, and in all the rest of it, there is absolutely nothing about the Qur'an's or Muhammad's exhortations to violence.

Again, why does that matter? Because if you don't identify the root of the problem correctly, you will continually apply the wrong remedies. The idea that Islam is a Religion of Peace that has been hijacked by a tiny minority of extremists has led the U.S. to all sorts of policy errors, foreign and domestic: pouring billions in Pakistan, supporting the Muslim Brotherhood in Egypt, treating stateside Islamic supremacist groups with ties to Hamas and the Muslim Brotherhood as neutral civil rights organizations, etc. If the exhortations to violence and subjugation of unbelievers under Sharia that are contained in Islamic texts and teachings were acknowledged in the public sphere, Muslim groups in the U.S. could be challenged to show what they're doing to teach against such things, and investigated for sedition where appropriate. Instead, law enforcement and government officials constantly trust individuals and groups that are untrustworthy, because they don't understand the smooth ways in which they're being deceived.

Still, all in all, the material Stein presents on the curriculum is fairly good. But there is a curious thing: the picture one gets of curriculum from Geller and from Stein are wildly divergent. Stein claims that this is because Geller quotes from "brief summaries of lengthy training seminars," while he presented the "entire lesson plan." But that's not actually the case. Go to the cached link of the main page for the curriculum. It says this:

In April 2004, the Aga Khan Foundation (AKF) and UT-Austin finalized a grant proposal that created the partnership that became known as the Muslim Histories and Cultures Program (MHC). Much has happened since the inception of the partnership. Creation and implementation of a model was of prime importance. MHC recruited and directly trained 80 teachers affecting approximately 15,150 students of World History and World Geography in ten key Texas districts during the two sessions conducted in 2005 and 2006. The purpose is two-fold 1) to fulfill Governor Rick Perry's desire to better educate Texas teachers on Muslim topics and 2) to train teachers to use a cultural lens approach to understanding other cultures. Governor Perry was instrumental in getting this program off the ground.

It adds -- and note this well -- that "the curriculum for this project was developed at Harvard University and modified at the University of Texas at Austin." Now this is apparently referring to the curriculum for the training of the 80 teachers in the two sessions conducted in 2005 and 2006. And this material is very, very bad. It contains all the material Geller quoted, including a whitewash of Muslim Spain (debunked here) and the use of texts by the likes of Carl Ernst, John Esposito, and Michael Sells. Carl Ernst is the academic propagandist who actually traveled to Tehran in 2008 to accept an award from Iran's genocidally antisemitic President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad. John Esposito is a Saudi-funded pseudo-academic who has cooked data about Islamic moderates. Michael Sells produced an edition of the Qur'an that left out all the violent and hateful bits. And they're by no means the only questionable authorities that this curriculum invokes.

But wait a minute. Remember, "the curriculum for this project was developed at Harvard University and modified at the University of Texas at Austin." But Stein claims to present "the curriculum that resulted from the Perry/Khan partnership," and specifically, "the lesson plan that deals with Islam and the West, past and present." Stein says that "the lesson plan was written by Ronald Wiltse," who is "a retired history teacher in San Antonio." But is Wiltse's lesson plan actually part of the Perry/Aga Khan curriculum at all? Only peripherally -- at best. Look back at the main cached page for the curriculum. It says that "MHC recruited and directly trained 80 teachers affecting approximately 15,150 students of World History and World Geography in ten key Texas districts during the two sessions conducted in 2005 and 2006," and that "the responsibilities of the participants are...to create lessons concerning Islamic topics with a 'cultural lens' approach tied to their grade level to share with other teachers."

The Plot thickens.

The Left Owns the Election Law Industry | FrontPage Magazine

The Left Owns the Election Law Industry | FrontPage Magazine

Like so many other institutions, whether academia or the media, leftists dominate the field of election law, and the consequences are immediate and devastating. Worst of all, hardly anyone has noticed that these scores of leftist election experts enjoy a largely unopposed battlefield.

Leftist foundations, litigators and organizations have established permanent structures designed to alter election outcomes through policy advocacy and strategic litigation. Project Vote, DEMOS, the Asian American Legal Defense Fund (AALDF), the Brennan Center for Justice, the Mexican American Legal Defense Fund (MALDEF), the NAACP Legal Defense Fund, the Advancement Project, National Association of Latino Elected and Appointed Officials (NALEO), League of Women Voters, Asian Pacific American Legal Center and Common Cause are some of the groups that push election law in a direction hostile to conservatives, and the rule of law. Not surprisingly, money tainted by George Soros also flows downstream through various groups and institutes to the cause....

What lawyers oppose the Advancement Project, ACLU, MALDEF, the Brennan Center, Project Vote, Demos, LULAC and the NAACP when they bring these suits? Often it is government attorneys who rarely litigate such weighty election battles. Sometimes the government lawyers are sympathetic to the plaintiffs.

Millions of leftist dollars pour into election law wars before the lawsuits are brought. After the lawsuits are brought, the leftist groups intervene and swarm like sharks around a flailing victim. Just look at the pleadings and amicus briefs submitted in any major election law dispute. Not surprisingly, the victims often succumb, or accept their fate and die. The Rule of Law often dies along with it.

Leftist election litigators even have their own training academies. One is the Civil Rights Division of the Department of Justice. Dozens of lawyers at the most militant groups in the country cut their teeth in the Voting Section at DOJ where I used to work.

Beware of these Liberal Organizations and the Super Packs funded by both Libs and Rino Organizations.

The Wisconsin Lesson

The Wisconsin Lesson
Fellow Conservatives:

The union-backed Democrats in Wisconsin failed yesterday to win the three recall elections they needed to retake the state senate. This is a major victory for freedom-loving Americans that should inspire us all to keep fighting for conservative principles.

Here's how David Freddoso at The Washington Examiner described the election results:
"The people" were supposed to be on the side of the unions who protested at the state capitol when Walker's bill passed, limiting the unions' collective bargaining privileges against taxpayers and school districts. But it turns out that "the people" had other ideas. In the end, even a massive infusion of cash and union volunteers was not enough to deliver the three state Senate recall races the unions needed, despite the fact that President Obama carried all six of the seats in question in 2008.

This marks the unions' third huge defeat in Wisconsin this year. The other two were the passage of Walker's bill and the re-election of David Prosser to the state Supreme Court. The grand talk of recalling Walker himself next year seems a bit blustery now, given the great failure of last night.
It's not exactly clear what yesterday's results mean for the 2012 elections. Wisconsin is a swing state and Election Day is still over a year away. President Obama needs a win here to secure his re-election and Democrats will be working hard to elect another Democrat to the open U.S. Senate seat.

If there is a lesson here, it's a lesson for those Republicans who are afraid to fight for conservative principles. Governor Scott Walker (R-WI) has demonstrated that if you lead with the courage of your convictions, you can turn your state around and win elections, too.

Unfortunately, I hear too many Republicans arguing for a "play it safe" strategy that fails to save our country and fails to give voters a reason to vote for them over their opponents.

The recent agreement to raise the debt limit was a perfect example. Conservatives produced the "Cut, Cap, and Balance" plan, a real solution that would have balanced the budget and preserved our AAA bond rating. But too many Republicans were unwilling to fight for it. They gave up on it because it didn't conform to what they thought was possible.

What happened last night in Wisconsin proves anything is possible if we're willing to stand on principle.

As you know, the Senate Conservatives Fund stood on principle last year and helped elect Ron Johnson to the U.S. Senate in Wisconsin. Now we're looking for another courageous conservative in Wisconsin to support in the 2012 U.S. Senate race.

Thank you for your continued support and encouragement. I believe the 2012 elections represent a "now or never" turning point for our country. With your help, I know we can take our country back and restore America's greatness.

Respectfully,

Jim DeMint
United States Senator
Chairman, Senate Conservatives Fund

What The Debt Deal Means

What The Debt Deal Means
The final agreement, which the President signed into law yesterday:
  • Raises the debt limit by as much as $2.4 trillion;
  • Allows the debt to continue to grow by $7 trillion over the next decade;
  • Creates a new, 12-member "super-committee" with the power to force major tax increases through Congress;
  • Threatens our AAA bond rating; and
  • Never balances the budget
Washington is addicted to spending and it's a bipartisan addiction. The debt deal passed the Senate with 74 votes -- 46 Democrats and 28 Republicans. You can see the full results at SenateConservatives.com.

If you have time, please take a few minutes today to call their offices to thank them for their courage and to urge them to keep fighting. Taking a stand like they did can be isolating at times and it's critical they know patriots like you are standing with them.
  • Pat Toomey (R-PA) -- (202) 224-4254
  • Marco Rubio (R-FL) -- (202) 224-3041
  • Rand Paul (R-KY) -- (202) 224-4343
  • Mike Lee (R-UT) -- (202) 224-5444
  • Ron Johnson (R-WI) -- (202) 224-5323
I am also happy to report that both of the U.S. Senate candidates we have endorsed for 2012 -- Ohio State Treasurer Josh Mandel (R-OH) and former Texas Solicitor General Ted Cruz (R-TX) -- publicly opposed the debt deal.

Conservatives fought for the right policies throughout this debate and forced the President and the entire Washington establishment to respond to our arguments. Our opponents even felt compelled to parrot our message of less spending.

Our strategy of electing rock-solid leaders to the Senate is working. Now we need to expand it so the policies enacted in Washington actually match the rhetoric coming out of it.

Jim DeMint
United States Senator
I encourage Texas to Support Ted Cruz for US Senate in 2012.

Don't Raise the Debt Limit!

American Congressman and Senator,

In my humble opinion, the vote that Doesn't Raise the Debt Limit is the only vote to slow government when it is obvious it is the only power left to Congress and America. It is the only means remaining between now and 2012. Time to Play the only card you have that can win. Don't just fold em.

This "debt agreement" proposed is nothing more than an authorization to continue spending NOW. Since the Libs can't do what's right and cut spending, let's not just pass the buck and HOPE those in power now, will make the right decision later. If the Regime doesn't have the will to do it now when they don't have the money, it's foolish to think they will do it later when they already have it.

This is the perfect outcome for Libs and Resident Obama. Give me my drugs now, and maybe I'll take treatment later. That is if I want to. Libs are government drug addicts and are not treatable on their own terms.

This is the most unethical, illegal, and ruthless Government America has ever seen, and if it isn't checked it will destroy America and The Constitution in our lifetime.

Time to stand up with the only real vote that counts.

After not raising the Debt Limit, focus on the following:

1. Support the subpoena served on HI to get access to Obama's Birth Certificate.
2. Help determine why Obama's Social Security Number is invalid.
3. Get to the bottom of the Regime walking guns to Mexico.
4. Work to stop the Destroy America Policies that increase and limit viable energy cost.
Eliminate, or investigate, the EPA
Stop Obamacare
Help eliminate uncertainty in taxes, business, investing, and campaigning.

Time to get out of the Congressional Wagon and keep the American Dream alive.

God Bless America

Why I Oppose the Boehner-Reid Debt Plan

Why I Oppose the Boehner-Reid Debt Plan
The Boehner-Reid plan gives the President an immediate increase in the debt limit and only promises to cut spending in the future. It violates all three principles of the Cut-Cap-Balance Pledge because it does not substantially cut current spending, it does not truly cap future spending, and it does not require the passage of a strong Balanced Budget Amendment before raising the debt limit.

In short, I oppose the Boehner-Reid plan because it won't balance the budget and stop the debt that is destroying our country.
From a member of congress you can trust.

The Sugar Daddy Has Run Out of Sugar; Now We Need New Leaders

The Sugar Daddy Has Run Out of Sugar; Now We Need New Leaders

But let me tell you where real hope lies. It’s not the hopey-changey stuff we heard about in 2008. Real hope comes from realizing how God has blessed our exceptional nation, and then doing something about it. We have been blessed with natural resources, hardworking entrepreneurs, and a Constitution that preserves the greatest form of government ever devised by man. If we develop those natural resources, allow our entrepreneurs to keep and invest more of what they earn, and adhere to the time-tested truths of our Constitution, we will prosper and endure.

But first and foremost we must tackle our debt. We don’t have the luxury of playing politics as usual. We need real leaders who will put aside their own political self-interest to do what is right for the nation. And if they don’t emerge… well, America has a do-over in November 2012.

Ken Melson | Secret Meeting | Project Gunrunner | The Daily Caller

Ken Melson | Secret Meeting | Project Gunrunner | The Daily Caller

House Oversight Committee Chairman Rep. Darrell Issa, California Republican, and Sen. Chuck Grassley, Iowa Republican, fired off the letter to Attorney General Eric Holder Tuesday detailing what Melson told Congressional investigators in a secret July 4 testimony.

One key takeaway from the meeting was that Melson acknowledged to investigators that agents had witnessed transfers of weapons from straw purchasers to third parties without following the guns afterwards. Straw purchasers are people who could technically legally buy guns in the U.S. but their intent was to turn around and sell them to drug cartels in Mexico.

Another point Melson clarified for investigators was that the ATF group carrying out the mission of Operation Fast and Furious was placed under the direction of the Arizona U.S. Attorney’s office. The U.S. Attorney in Arizona, Dennis Burke, is a political appointee of the Obama administration.

Holder fast and furious covering up Fast and Furious and recent subpoena for Obama Birth Certificate.

Dallasblog.com, the Dallas, Texas news blog and Dallas, Texas information source for the DFW Metroplex. - DALLAS BLOG - George Soros and John Wiley Price Partnership Reaps Big Rewards
Mr. Price has teamed up with the billionaire tycoon speculator of Brazilian oil, George Soros, a leftist financier of radical extremist organizations, to ensure that the Dallas County Commissioners’ Court remains in Democratic hands for the rest of the decade through his redistricting strategy....

Texas GOP Vote added, “an about George Soros. The DCCC hired attorney J. Gerald Herbert to assist with the redistricting process and its compliance with the Voting Rights Act. Herbert, in turn, hired or contracted with Matt Angle’s firm, Angle & Associates, which was funded bountifully by Dallas Democrat Fred Baron. Angle’s group was a key player in the Democratic takeover of Colorado, and is firmly entrenched in America’s far left. Worse, through the interwoven network of Democrat activist groups, described well in this article, money from well-known, conservative-hating billionaire George Soros has indirectly made its way into the redistricting process at the DCCC.”
It just never stops with these carpetbaggers.

Don't forget Fred Baron is a key Dallas donor to Resident Obama that hosted a fundraiser in his Dallas home.

West Weekly Wrap-Up

West Weekly Wrap-Up
I am very concerned about the carbon footprint of having five buses of 240 House GOP members going to the White House. Seems to me the opposite would have been far more prudent, with the President instead coming to Capitol Hill.

The following day, the Secretary of the Treasury, Timothy Geithner, came to visit the House GOP Freshman and indeed it was yet another wasted trip. In just eight short minutes, the Treasury Secretary assured me that he does not have a clue when it comes to enacting spending cuts and spending control measures as part of the revitalization of our fiscal and economic policies, including mandatory spending reforms, which the President stated he agreed on Wednesday.

It would seem that after Friday’s abysmal jobs report numbers, which included half of the reported job growth coming from McDonald’s (a recipient of an Obamacare waiver, by the way), one would think there would be a change in course. Nah, just dig in your heels, and follow the same failed policies. We have seen a 40% increase in Americans on food stamps since the President took the oath of office. Gasoline prices have gone from around $1.89 a gallon to close to $4 on average for regular unleaded.

There are three critical aspects which we must rectify. First, we must restore confidence with our job creators and consumers. Second, we must ensure the proper amount of regulation, providing access to capital for our small business owners. Lastly, we must provide certainty for the private sector and investors to create long term viable and sustainable economic and job growth.

The other point of order I wish to address is the so-called “Arab Spring” - truly a “Muslim Brotherhood Nightmare.” Those who view the events across North Africa and the Middle East with Western rose-colored glasses are completely misreading the situation. The goal of the Brotherhood has always been to restore an Islamic Caliphate, a borderless empire which shall be ruled by one leader. They have no respect for the secular leadership, autocratic, despotic dictators which permeate this region. However, under the guise of “Democracy” and dare I say it, “Change” they are toppling these regimes one by one – and we have no competent understanding of who shall fill the void.

One need only look back in history when the same occurred in Iran and we all witnessed, and continue to witness, the revitalization of the 7th century radical Islamic state model under the guidance of theocrats. Under this guidance we have seen the resurgence of Islamic terrorism, state sponsored from this very same Iran.

There is no Arab Spring, but there is an Islamic mystery as to who shall not only fill the void in these countries, but where shall the seat of power for this 21st Century Caliphate be established? Iran or Turkey?
Statesmen still exist in Congress as Congressman West clearly illustrates. There are just not many of them.

Congressman West Statement on the PATRIOT Act

Congressman West Statement on the PATRIOT Act
I have spent the past two months investigating these provisions to the PATRIOT Act, their effect on American citizens and their impact on apprehending terrorists to better keep our country safe. After much reading, many briefings, and conversations with local law enforcement and federal agents, including FBI Director Robert Mueller, I am not fully convinced that by extending these provisions for four years, we would be any safer, but instead I fear they may only give us the illusion of being safer.

I also have concerns that these provisions were pushed through during the final hours on the very last day before the provisions were set to expire, and there was no open process for myself and other members of Congress to fully review the document.
Words of wisdom from a true Patriot!

Soros Event Sets in Motion New Attacks on Dollar

Soros Event Sets in Motion New Attacks on Dollar
  • By Dan Gainor
  • Wednesday, April 20, 2011 5:15 PM EDT
When the anti-American Soros spent $50 million creating the New York City-based Institute for New Economic Thinking (INET), he set in motion a major move against the dollar. The billionaire who once crushed the British pound through currency trading openly declared his plans to 'reform the currency system.' In the Machiavellian mind of Soros, the dollar needed to take a back seat and end its stint as the world reserve currency. 'The dollar no longer enjoys the trust and confidence that it once did, yet no other currency can take its place,' he wrote in late 2009.

In 2011, he was already pushing aside the dollar. 'The big question is whether the U.S. dollar should be the reserve currency; and, in fact, it no longer is,' Soros told Bloomberg. He's not the only one. Nobel Prize winning economist and Soros buddy Joseph Stiglitz said he is arguing for 'a global reserve currency.' Stiglitz, who also chairs the UN General Assembly on Reforms of the International Monetary and Financial System, called for a new 'global system,' saying the current one is 'fundamentally unfair because it means that poor countries are lending to the U.S. at close to zero interest rates.'
How safe is your $$?

Bet we could turn it around with a real American President.

The Fleming Health Care Repeal Update

The Fleming Health Care Repeal Update
FLEMING HEALTH CARE REPEAL UPDATE
The New Health Care Reform Law One Year Later and Getting Worse by the Day

Today, on the one year anniversary since government-approved health care was signed into law, a look at the implementation of the new health care reform reveals how the legislation has failed to deliver on costs, premiums, spending, and preserving Americans’ existing coverage:

19 — States where parents can no longer buy child-only insurance policies as a result of the law

30 — States suing to block the law from taking effect, or requesting waivers from its requirements

51 — Percentage of American workers who will lose their current health coverage by 2013, according to the Administration’s own estimates

1,270 — New bureaucrats requested by the Internal Revenue Service to implement the law this year

$2,100 — Increase in individual insurance premiums due to Obamacare, according to the Congressional Budget Office

$2,500 — Premium reduction promised by candidate Obama “by the end of my first term as President”

6,578 — Pages of new regulations issued implementing Obamacare through March 14, 2011

800,000 — Reduction in the American labor force due to Obamacare provisions that “will effectively increase marginal tax rates, which will also discourage work,” according to the CBO

2,624,720 — Total individuals in 1,040 plans granted waivers thus far exempting them from the law’s insurance mandates; nearly half of whom participate in union plans

7,400,000 — Reduction in Medicare Advantage enrollment as a result of Obamacare, resulting in a loss of choice for seniors and millions of beneficiaries losing their current health plan

40,000,000 — Firms subject to the health law’s new 1099 reporting requirements, which the National Federation of Independent Business called a “tremendous new paperwork compliance burden”

$118,000,000,000 — New costs imposed on states to implement Obamacare—budgetary costs that will lead to reduced services for other state programs like education or to higher state taxes

$310,800,000,000 — Projected increase in health costs due to Obamacare, according to the independent Medicare actuary, who called its promise of lower costs “false, more so than true”

$552,200,000,000 — Amount of higher taxes Americans will pay if Obamacare remains in place

$1,390,000,000,000 Federal spending on new entitlements during fiscal years 2012-2021 according to the CBO, a 48 percent increase from an earlier estimate

WHAT THIS MEANS FOR YOU: Even though we have seen only a few of the law’s initial provisions take effect, American families and businesses are already facing higher costs, economic uncertainty, and loss of their current coverage.

THE DOCTOR'S DIAGNOSIS: The new health care reform law is the prime example of how the Democrats’ tax hikes, spending spree, and heavy-handed government policies are hurting our economy and making it harder for small businesses to create jobs. Removing these barriers will provide the businesses that create new jobs with the certainty they need to hire new employees and get our economy back on track.

I remain committed to reducing healthcare costs by providing access and choices for every American, protecting the patient-doctor relationship, and keeping the government out of the exam room. I will work aggressively in Congress to repeal what I firmly believe to be an onerous and unconstitutional health care reform law and support market-based solutions to our health care needs.

Sincerely,

JOHN FLEMING, M.D.
Member of Congress
